Travel Channel Announces Robert Englund as New Series Host

The internet is buzzing this morning after news released yesterday that Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street) is set to host a new Travel Channel series.

Produced by Workaholic Productions (Travel’s The Yes Man, America: Facts vs. Fiction) and titled Shadows of History, the six-episode series will follow Robert as he travels the country to examine terrifying, “too good to be true” type stories. Each episode will cover the mysterious with the assistance of historians and scholars.

In an exclusive with The Hollywood Reporter, Travel Channel’s general manager Jane Latman shared, “How can you make fascinating and petrifying stories even more scary? Add the genius of Robert Englund. As if tales of flying monsters, zombie cannibals and ghost ships were not enough, we are cranking up the volume for maximum impact. And our fans are going to go nuts for this legendary actor.”

The stories Robert will focus on come from America’s past, straight from the pages of newspapers in history referred to in the announcement as “frightening, odd, and creepy”. We’re all in.

After Robert Englund graced the television screen to reprise Freddy Krueger in a special episode of The Goldbergs and Eli Roth’s History of Horror last year, we’re thrilled to get more time with him.

With the success of Travel Channel in 2018 attributed to their focus on bringing life to myths and legends, hopefully Shadows of History will be received well by audiences. Let’s be real. We already want more than six episodes. Fingers crossed this show will take off!

At this time, we don’t have a clear idea of when the series will premiere or even indication of when a premiere date will be announced.
